SENATE CONFIRMS 18 MINISTERIAL NOMINEES
The screening of Ministerial nominees by the Senate continued on Wednesday October 14, 2015 as no fewer than eight nominees were screened while two were deferred to another legislative date. Those successfully screened include:
• Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN)
• Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachukwu
• Abubakar Malami (SAN)
• Dr. (Sen.) Chris Nwabueze Ngige
• Sen. Aisha Jummai Alhassan
• Barr. Solomon Dalong
• Mrs. Kemi Adeosun
• Sen. Hadi Sirika
The Nominees passed through a rigorous session of questions and answers after which a presentation of report carried out by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki culminated into the approval question of the nominees as their nominations were ultimately approved. Sen Saraki also announced that the screening of the remaining two nominees, Barr. Adebayo Shittu and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has been deferred to another legislative date.

Similarly, the Senate having successfully screened 18 Ministerial nominees in two days has equally confirmed their nomination as Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Their confirmation was sequel to the approval of the distinguished Senators when the confirmation questions were put on voice vote by the Senate President one after another. Those confirmed are:
• Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma * Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN)
• Dr. John Kayode Fayemi * Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachukwu
• Chief Audu Ogbe * Abubakar Malami (SAN)
• Dr. Christopher Ogbonnaya Onu * Dr. (Sen.) Chris Nwabueze Ngige
• Dr. Osagie Ehanire * Sen. Aisha Jummai Alhassan
• Lt. Gen. Abdulraman Dambazau * Barr. Solomon Dalong
• Alhaji Lai Mohammed * Mrs. Kemi Adeosun
• Amina Ibrahim Mohammed * Sen. Hadi Sirika
• Engr. Sulaiman Hussaini Adamu
• Mr. Ibrahim Usman Jibril
The Senate President congratulated the nominees and urged them to assist President Buhari in moving the nation forward. He also thanked his colleagues for the patriotism exhibited during the screening exercise.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari in a letter to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki read on the floor of the Red Chamber indicated the withdrawal of Ahmed Musa Ibeto (Niger State) from the nomination list; he has since been replaced with the Hon. Abubakar Bawa Bwari.

Also, the Senate has considered and passed a Motion on “The Flooding of Nine Villages in Ifeku Island and Illushi Town, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State”. The Motion was sponsored by Sen. Clifford A. Ordia (Edo Central). Accordingly, the Motion sailed through with only Resolution as thus:
• Urge the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to send relief materials to the victims.
