SENATE RESUMES PLENARY & ADJOURNS SESSION TO MOURN LATE ABAYOMI

The Senate, on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 resumed plenary session for the year 2019 after the Christmas and New Year break. However, the session was brief as only the Executive Communication from President Muhammadu Buhari, seeking the screening and confirmation of the Chairman, Mr. Paul Tarfa and Members of the Board of North-East Development Commission as well as the Chairman, Modibbo Hamman Tukur of Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) were read on the floor.
Thereafter, the Chamber deferred all items on the Order Paper and abruptly adjourned session in honour of late Hon. Ayeola Abdulkadir Abayomi who died on November 30th, 2018. Until his death, he represented Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC).
The Senate prayed for the repose of the soul of late Abayomi, extended condolences to his family, people and government of Lagos State. A minute silence was also observed in his honour.
