The 7th National Assembly (2011 -2015) was inaugurated on 6th June, 2011. Out of the 109 Senators of the Senate, 36 were re-elected while 73 were elected for the first time

The Senate has passed a resolution on the plight of internally displaced persons in the North-East of Nigeria.

The plenary session of the Senate on Thursday, 23 October witnessed the passage into law of “A Bill for an Act to Provide for the Prohibition, Prevention, Detection, Response, Investigation and Prosecution of Cyber Crimes and for Other Related Matters, 2014”. The passage of the bill was sequel to the presentation of Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters’ Report on the Cyber Crime Bill referred to it for further legislative work by the Chamber a few weeks ago.

A Bill for an Act to Abolish, Prohibit Dichotomy and Discrimination between first Degree and Higher National Diploma (HND) in the same Profession/Field and Related Matters 2014 (S.B. 433) scaled through second reading on the floor of the Senate during Wednesday’s plenary session.
